The Wisconsin Badgers and Houston Cougars have dropped out of the Associated Press College Football Poll for this week.
A scare in a game in Texas bumped Alabama from the top spot to number two. Defending national champion Georgia is ranked number one.
The latest poll is dominated by the S-E-C which has eight teams ranked.
The ACC has five and the Big Ten has four – Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, and Penn State.
In other Badger news, eight players are out for the New Mexico State game this Saturday, not counting those who are out for the season.
The list includes offensive lineman Tanor Bortolini, wide receivers Stephan Bracey, tight end Cam Large, inside linebacker Spencer Lytle, cornerback Alexander Smith, outside linebackers Aaron Witt, safety Hunter Wohler, and quarterback Chase Wolf.
Starting right tackles Riley Mahlman is a possibility after missing two games.
He isn’t listed on the injury report for this weekend.
