Tonight, Prevent Suicide Manitowoc County in cooperation with The Production Farm will host a showing of Mount Lawrence, a film that tells the touching tale of a New York man who cycled across the country to name a mountain after his father Lawrence who died by suicide.
The touching film is being shown locally tonight, and the filmmakers will be on hand. Donna Firman of Prevent Suicide Manitowoc County says her organization is very happy to have the creators of the film on hand tonight.
“We have a town hall talk after the movie,” she explained. “We will have a little reception where the filmmakers will hang out and answer questions, and the audience will have a chance to talk about it.”
Firman called the film very emotional, and, “as much a journey of spiritual, and maturity and awakening as it is a movie of someone who has lost someone to suicide. So even if you don’t connect with the suicide situation, you can connect with a parental relationship and maturing and learning about yourself through a really tough challenge.”
Tickets are complimentary, so show up at the Franciscan Center for Music Education and Performance at 7:00 p.m. and join Prevent Suicide and The Production Farm for the showing of Mount Lawrence.
