The 9-year-old girl who was crushed by a 1,000-pound hay bale two weeks ago is said to be recovering nicely.
On August 24th, Savannah Grahl and her family were visiting the barn in the Township of Eden, as they do multiple times a day all summer long, to take care of their animals.
After chores were done, Savannah, her sister, and a friend began playing in the barn.
Then, in a freak accident, a hay bale was knocked down, crushing Savannah against a pole.
Her family quickly pulled the hay bale off of her and started performing first aid. Once the ambulance arrived, she was taken to a hospital and flown to Children’s Wisconsin.
For the next three days, she was put on a ventilator and treated for a fractured occipital bone at the base of her skull and some stretched ligaments in her right arm.
Media reports indicate that she is doing very well all things considered and is undergoing physical and occupational therapy.
Savannah’s mom even called her survival a miracle.
