17 kills by freshman outside hitter Ella Holmstrom were huge as Marquette beat Loyola-Chicago 3-1 at the Al McGuire Center Tuesday night.
The Golden Eagles got another 15 kills from Aubrey Hamilton while improving their overall record to 4-1.
It was the home opener for Marquette and head coach Ryan Theis. Jadyn Garrison had three straight service aces at one point during the match.
The Golden Eagles hosts LSU and Milwaukee Saturday and Sunday.
