Speech reax 9/2/22 OL
Local reactions were mixed regarding President Joe Biden’s speech to the nation last night. Callers to WOMT’s Jim and Rick Show expressed differing opinions. One man was vehemently opposed to the president’s points:
Caller 1 :19 Q – the MAGA group
A very different reaction came from a woman who said she was very impressed by the speech and strongly supported the president:
Caller 2 :20 Q – democracy will survive
While there is no presidential election this year, the speech was widely regarded as a campaign speech, and was not carried by major television networks.
Caller 1 – “If anything qualifies for hate speech, I guess that was it. And one of his main themes is Republicans are trying to take us back. Is that back to secure borders, back to low inflation, back to low crime rates? And what exactly is the threat to democracy from the MAGA group?”
Caller 2 – I think that this is a man of such honesty and integrity. I have enormous respect for him, for what he has done legislatively in getting so many bills passed that help the common ordinary citizen. I agree with him totally, I am very afraid of whether our democracy will survive.”
