Governor Tony Evers recently announced that school districts around the state would be getting a portion of $75 million in ARPA funds, and over $1 million of that is coming to Manitowoc County.
These funds are a part of the Get Kids Ahead initiative and are determined based on the number of students in the district.
The Manitowoc Public School District is getting the lion’s share of the money coming to the County as they are slated to receive nearly $453,000.
Two Rivers will be getting just shy of $150,000, while $111,000 is going to Kiel, $95,000 goes to Chilton, and $83,000 is going to Valders.
Also getting money locally is the Brillion School District, which is getting over $78,000, and Reedsville, which will get $56,000.
For comparison, the Green Bay Area Public School District is slated to receive nearly $1.89 million, and Sheboygan is receiving nearly $896,000.
