Wisconsin’s top three running backs are giving a lot of credit for their success to their former coach Gary Brown.
He died in April at the age of 52.
Sophomore Braelon Allen had Brown’s initials tattooed on his left arm earlier this year.
Allen will lead a rushing attack that includes Chez Mellusi and Isaac Guerendo into the season opener against Illinois State Saturday.
Brown had an impact during his only season coaching at Wisconsin.
His health issues kept him away from the Las Vegas Bowl victory over Arizona State.
The official cause of Brown’s death hasn’t been formally announced, but he was open with others when talking about the multiple times he had to fight cancer.
