A would-be thief in Manitowoc was caught in part due to the actions of a FedEx driver.
The incident was reported to the Manitowoc Police Department at about 12:15 p.m. on Friday (August 26th).
The victim and a FedEx driver were following a man who had attempted to take a backpack from a man in the 2300 block of South 23rd Street.
Officers spoke with the victim, who had noticed the suspect pacing around near his parents’ house.
He approached the man and asked why he was there, to which he responded by asking to use the man’s motorcycle.
The victim denied that request, after which the suspect attempted to take his backpack.
The victim was able to maintain possession of his backpack and informed a nearby FedEx driver of what had happened.
He then helped keep track of the man until officers arrived.
The 30-year-old man was arrested on charges of Attempted Theft, and Disorderly Conduct.
