One of the big goals for the Badgers football team this season will be to do much better on third-and-short.
Surprisingly, a Wisconsin team with such a productive rushing attack was just 13th in the Big Ten Conference on third-down conversions – just under 34 percent.
Coach Paul Chryst’s offense ran 51 plays or third or fourth down needing short yardage for a first down.
The Badgers were 25-of-41 on third down and seven-of-10 on fourth and short.
The message to the offensive linemen as the season approaches is “just be physical,” according to left tackle Jack Nelson.
