The man who led the Roncalli Boys Basketball team to two state titles, a runner-up finish, and was named the 2022 WIAA Coach of the Year has stepped down from his position.
Joe Garceau has accepted a position in the Monona Grove School District.
Garceau joined the staff at Roncalli Catholic Schools in 2011, and quickly was named the head boys basketball coach.
His style of leadership and ability to transform young boys into young men kept Roncalli as a perennial playoff contender following the departure of Joe Rux.
Garceau said in a news release, “The last seven years of my life I’ve given everything I’ve had to be the best basketball coach that I could be, but now I want to try to be the best father/husband that I can be while working on my profession as an educator and I feel like this opportunity gives me the best opportunity to focus on that.”
John Stelzer, Roncalli Catholic Schools President praised Garceau and all the work he has put in, saying “He has made a positive impact on our community, and we wish him well in his future endeavors.”
Roncalli Catholic Schools will be posting a teaching position and coaching position this week.
