Eighteen months have been added to the sentence for a Chicago man found guilty of robbing a Madison store two-and-a-half years ago.
31-year-old Bernard Thomas was convicted of the 2019 robbery of Rocky’s Liquor store but failed to show up for the hearing where he was being sentenced.
U.S. Marshals arrested him nearly a year later in Chicago.
Federal Judge William M. Conley said Thomas has to be held accountable for his actions.
The judge also said he will likely be under tighter security while he is serving federal time.
