An issue many cities have been trying to figure out over the past three years is what to do with the vacant former Shopko locations.
In Manitowoc, Harbor Freight has taken over a portion of the old store, while Hobby Lobby and Ross Dress for Less have been announced to be taking over the building on Erie Avenue.
Now in Appleton, progress is being made.
The Appleton City Council has approved a proposal to build a Zips Car Wash on the property located at the Northland Mall.
The proposal would have the car wash take up 56,000 square feet of space, which is about half of the size of the current structure.
