A Manitowoc man who is accused of killing his children in Kaukauna has been convicted in a separate case.
38-year-old Matthew Beyer was found guilty due to a no contest plea on charges of Attempting to Escape a Criminal Arrest and Taking Hostages, both as Party to the Crime.
He and another man had attempted to escape from the Outagamie County Jail in June 2020, shortly after he was arrested for allegedly killing his 5-year-old son William, and 3-year-old daughter Danielle.
They were both found dead in their Kaukauna home on February 17th, 2020.
Beyer was set to stand trial in that case in September, but the jury trial was postponed until December 1st.
Beyer maintains his innocence, with his team reportedly set to introduce evidence that proves it was another man who was responsible for the murders.
