Fire crews in Sheboygan were called to the scene of a fire early yesterday morning (August 18th) and remained on the scene for nearly 8 hours.
The call reporting the blaze in the 1100 block of Pennsylvania Avenue was received by the Sheboygan Fire Department just after 5:30 a.m.
Crews were on the scene of a personal storage unit a few minutes later and found intense fire conditions, which required them to attack the inferno from a distance.
Eventually, crews were able to enter the structure to conduct overhaul operations and extinguish the remaining embers.
The scene was cleared by 1:30 p.m. One firefighter was treated at the scene for heat exhaustion, but no other injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Six other fire departments assisted on the scene, along with the Sheboygan County Drone Team, Sheboygan Police Department, and Orange Cross Ambulance.
