Even though Stivin Cruz had a great debut for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, his record will not show it.
Cruz absorbed a 1-0 loss to the Cedar Rapids Kernels last night on the road.
In fact, Cruz had a no-hitter going into the 5th inning, but a solo home run by Mikey Perez put that all to bed as he led off the inning.
Cruz and reliever Taylor Floyd combined to strike out 10 batters on the night, with the Perez’s home run being the only hit the Kernels could muster.
The Rattlers’ offense wasn’t a whole lot better, as they only picked up three hits, but none of them were for more than a single.
In fact, only one Ratter baserunner reached second base.
The Appleton-based Milwaukee Brewers High A affiliate will try to salvage the series tonight at Perfect Game Field.
First pitch is slated for 6:35 p.m.
