An Appleton man who lives near where the officer-involved shooting took place last week has posted a video of its aftermath.
The incident occurred in the 1500 block of North Birchwood Avenue after officers were called on a report of a domestic dispute.
Officers confronted a man at around 7:20 p.m. and noted that he was armed with a handgun.
The officers reportedly attempted to negotiate with the man but ended up shooting him.
He was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
A video posted to Facebook by one of the man’s neighbors shows the officer flipping him over and placing him in handcuffs.
While the actual shooting was not captured, the man did say “Don’t get it twisted I still respect Appleton Police Department, but this right here is injustice. The only threat this man posed at that moment was a threat to himself.”
The Wisconsin Department of Justice is still investigating the incident while the officers involved are on administrative leave as per department policy.
