The Manitowoc County Courthouse is nearing its 115th birthday this September, and county leaders are looking to give her a wonderful gift to celebrate.
County Executive Bob Ziegelbauer has confirmed with Seehafer News that they are in the process of planning a major renovation project at the iconic building.
There was a study conducted recently by Strang Architectural, which led to the county officials coming up with a list of things that need to be done.
In total, the project will take three years to complete and will cost between $24.6 million and $30.3 million.
Ziegelbauer called the renovations a “once in a century” project, which he intends on including in his budget next year.

Construction on the Courthouse began in 1905, and it was completed in 1907, not in 1906 which is what is inscribed on the exterior of the structure.
