It was a battle of starting pitchers last night in Cedar Rapids Iowa, but the host Kernels prevailed with a 2-1 win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.
Wisconsin’s starting pitcher, Carols Rodriguez, went five and one-third innings allowing both runs, and even though he absorbed the loss, his start can be considered a good one.
He only walked two batters and struck out 9.
His opponent, Travis Adams went 5 full innings, allowing just one run on 3 hits, while walking 3 batters and striking out 8.
The loss dropped the Rattlers down to 6.5 games out of first place in the Overall West Division standings and 3.5 games out in the Second Half standings.
Game 3 of the Rattlers and Kernels’ six-game set will start at 6:35 this evening at Perfect Game Field in Cedar Rapids Iowa.
Stiven Cruz is slated to get his first start in a Rattlers’ uniform.
