Authorities say a 20-year-old Poynette man left a loaded gun unsecured, leading to a seven-year-old girl being shot in the leg.
Andrew Long made his initial appearance in Columbia County Circuit Court Wednesday.
The victim was shot by a boy under the age of 10 last month.
She suffered a wound to her thigh and is expected to recover.
Long faces a charge of leaving a loaded firearm near a child.
He is free on a signature bond of $500.
