Students are getting ready to go back to school, but they may not see some of their favorite adults when they return.
The Green Bay Area Public School District has announced that they have had to cut staff due to a $36 million budget shortfall projected over the next two years.
Most of the staff reduction has come at the District level, as 10 administrative positions in the district office were eliminated.
That is estimated to save the district around $1.2 million.
But the question some are asking is why they are short so much cash?
The answer comes in the form of enrollment.
Over the last six years, the Green Bay School District has seen a steady decline in enrollment, which is directly tied to the amount of money they have coming in.
Plus the pandemic and inflation did not help the issue.
