Manitowoc is going to be the host city for the 59th annual Studebaker Drivers Club International Meet next year.
The event, scheduled for September 12th through the 16th of 2023, is expected to draw over 1,000 Studebaker car and truck enthusiasts to the lakeshore area, according to Steve Kanter, President of the Wisconsin Region Studebaker Drivers Club.
He says the host club hopes to have 300 Studebakers on display during the event at the Manitowoc County Expo Fairgrounds, with the local Holiday Inn serving as the host hotel.
Kanter explains, “Manitowoc is the perfect place to hold this. We are right off Interstate 43, about 70 miles north of Milwaukee. The host hotel and overflow lodging are located within a mile of the fairgrounds. Touring and getting around in old Studebakers will be easy with light traffic and great scenic touring roads in the area.”
He added the WRSDC is planning many activities including a swap meet, technical seminars, Studebaker Car Tours, and events to draw in the general public to enjoy the cars and the people that bring them.
Studebaker built innovative vehicles since 1852, but the company transitioned to automobiles in the early 20th century and built cars until 1966.
