Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson has named the new director for the city’s Office of Violence Prevention.
Alderman Ashanti Hamilton was introduced Monday.
He says there have been some concerns about whether or not there is a continued commitment to understanding violence is a public health issue.
Hamilton says he has created and sponsored programs now being implemented by the office.
Mayor Johnson had abruptly dismissed Arnitta Holliman from the director’s position earlier this month.
