The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers have won again, this time holding off a late rally attempt by the South Bend Cubs.
The final score at Fox Cities Stadium was 5-2.
Both starting pitchers had good starts, allowing no runs through the first 3 innings before each team plated a run in the 4th.
The rattlers then tallied four runs split between the 6th, 7th, and 8th innings.
Then in the 9th, The Cubs looked to mount a comeback.
They were able to score one run, and load the bases, but closer James Meeker delivered.
He struck out the final batter to earn the save, his 10th of the year, and give the Rattlers two wins in a row over South Bend.
Starting pitcher Carlos Rodriguez earned the win with his six innings of four-hit baseball, where he allowed one run and struck out four.
The Rattlers are in control as they continue their series throughout the weekend.
Tonight and tomorrow’s games will begin at 6:40 p.m., and Sunday’s series finale will begin at 1:10 p.m.
