It passed without much notice, but Thursday was the 103rd “birthday” for the Green Bay Packers.
A group of men sat down in the editorial rooms of the Press-Gazette on August 11th, 1919, and created what would become one of the most legendary professional football teams.
Indian Packing Company of Green Bay sponsored the team for the first two years, then Acme Packing Company took over.
The Packers are iconic with nine NFL titles, four Super Bowl victories, and a total of 28 Packers inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame.
