A Fond du Lac man has been found guilty of a hate crime, but his troubles in court are not done just yet.
A jury found Daniel Navarro guilty of 1st Degree Intentional Homicide with a Hate Crime enhancer for the death of former police officer Phillip A. Thiessen in 2020.
Now, the jury will have to address Navarro’s plea of being not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect and if he understood what he was doing.
Navarro had rammed the back of Thiessen’s motorcycle and claimed Harley-Davidson riders are “white racists.”
The jury spent three and a half hours watching interviews with detectives that occurred shortly after the crash.
