
While there were no local races per se on the ballot yesterday, two local residents did advance in their state and federal races.
Congressman Glenn Grothman was the clear-cut winner over first-time challenger Douglas Mullenix, earning 66,000 more votes.
Meanwhile, Devin LeMahieu also earned a landslide victory over Ruth Villareal and Jeanette Deschene.
In the Republican gubernatorial race, Tim Michaels bested Rebecca Kleefisch by 35,000 votes.
That trend was also seen locally, as Michaels received 376 more votes in Manitowoc County.
Also, Ron Johnson defeated David Schroeder by nearly 500,000 votes.
He will be challenged by Mandela Barnes in November.
Adam Jarchow has conceded in the race for the Republican nomination for Attorney General, so Eric Toney has been named the winner.
He will challenge Josh Kaul in November.
According to Manitowoc County Clerk, Jessica Backus, only 26% of eligible voters turned out in Manitowoc County.
Other races in the state found Brad Plaff defeating three other Democrats looking to represent District 3 in the House, while Tim Rogers and Tom Tiffany also advanced in Districts 4 and 7 respectively.
In the State Senate races, Jessica Katzenmeyer, Peter Gilbert, Rachel Cabral-Guevara, Van Wanggaard, Jesse James and Cory Tomczyk all won their races.
The contested Assembly races saw Joel Kitchens win, as did Joy Goeben, Peter Schmidt, Darrin Madison, Ellen Schutt, Tyler August, Scott Johnson, Jenna Jacobson, Clinton Anderson, Melissa Ratcliff, Jerry O’Connor, Ty Bodden, Robert Brooks, Amanda Nedweski, Karen Hurd, Scott Soik, Angie Sapki, Chanz Green, Alex Joers, Mike Bare, Jacob Luginbuhl, Shellie Benish, Nik Rettinger, Bob Donovan, James Edming, Treig Pronschinske, Jayne Swiggum, and Loren Oldenburg.
