A former radio announcer known for his rich, deep voice has died.
Steven Kath, who was better known as David Dunn, passed away last Friday (August 5th) at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center in Manitowoc.
He was 70.
The son of the late Jay and Jane Maertz Dunn was born in Ashland and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1971.
Steve, a Vietnam-era Naval reservist, continued his education at Brown Institute of Broadcasting in Minneapolis before starting his employment in radio at WLIH in New London.
His radio career later took him to several cities in Wisconsin and Minnesota including stops as Music Director at WGEZ in Beloit, and local stations WCUB, WKTT, and WOMT until June of 2010 when poor health forced him to retire.
While residing in Beloit, Steve was the Vice President of the local Jaycee Chapter and also served as the District Director for the State Jaycees.
Dave Dunn will be remembered for his trademark sign off at the end of each shift, ”It’s time to hang up the headset and head for parts unknown.”
Per Steve’s wishes, no services will be held.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel.
