
A Green Bay man has been sentenced after he was found to be drinking on a school field trip.
70-year-old James Nelson pleaded guilty to charges of OWI with a Passenger Under the Age of 16, and Bail Jumping and will spend 90 days in jail.
Nelson was tasked with driving a bus full of children from Green Bay’s Lincoln Elementary School to Madison back in April.
On their way back, a student noticed a beer can under Nelson’s seat, at which time the teacher informed the School District.
Nelson was swiftly fired from his job at Lamers and charged. During his sentencing hearing,
Nelson apologized to those on the bus, his family, and his former employer.
