Holy Family Memorial and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice have ironed out a preferred provider agreement for hospice services.
Steve Little, President of HFM-part of the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin health network, tells Seehafer News the goal is to increase the level of service and the quality of hospice care in Manitowoc County and surrounding counties.
”Hospice is core to our catholic ministry’s mission and that is caring for people at the end of life,” he explained. “Looking at our program which has been competing not only with Sharon S. Richardson but other hospices in the community, we felt it would serve our community much more effectively if we partnered with people that we believe are the gold standard in the industry, that being Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.”
Erik Tetzlaff, Administrator of Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, spoke of the partnership to provide the very best in end-of-life care for patients and families served by Holy Family Memorial.
“We believe this is really innovative in terms of where healthcare is going and Manitowoc and Calumet can really serve as a great example of that and be out in front,” he said. “So, there’s a lot of benefit to working together, rather than working apart.”
The preferred provider hospice agreement takes effect September 1st.
Little added, “We want to offer all of the health services that are appropriate for the community and, things that are done better by others, we’d rather work with them than try to compete with them.”
The hospital’s current hospice patients have been given the option to seamlessly transition their care to SSRCH or, select another provider of their choice.
