The City of Sheboygan received over $22 million in Coronavirus State Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF) from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) in 2021, but what did they spend it on? I
n a recent post on Facebook, the City explained that they were required to spend over $11.6 million of that on eligible projects by June 30th of this year.
They are just short of that number, spending $11.3 million on six different items.
The biggest expenditure was on a raw water intake project, which cost $9.55 million, while another $782,510 was spent on the renovation of the former Save-A-Lot building, located at 1817 North 8th Street.
Roughly $563,500 covered the revenue lost by their Room Tax Commission, $360,000 went into a Small Business Emergency Assistance Program, and a quarter of a million dollars were spent on the demolition of the former Jakum’s Hall, located at 2601 North 15th Street.
The final $100,000 was spent on administration and reporting.
The City of Sheboygan still has just over $10.4 million remaining in its SLFRF funds.
