An Appleton man has been arrested after he was seen with what appeared to be a handgun at a city pool.
Officers with the Appleton Police Department arrived at the Erb Park Pool just before 4:00 p.m. yesterday (August 4th) after a worker claimed to see a male carrying a handgun.
Three juvenile males were detained, and two BB guns were found in their possession.
One BB gun was translucent, but the other one was black, and looked like a real firearm.
No injuries were reported, but the Pool was closed for the day.
In a post on Facebook, the Appleton Police Department advised parents that “These facsimile guns pose significant safety concerns as others may not immediately recognize them as bb style guns. In addition, many of these also fire some form of projectile, oftentimes fired by use of compressed air, and would also pose a safety risk without proper protective equipment being worn.”
