For the past four months, the Two Rivers City Council meetings have only been live streamed on Facebook and YouTube, but it appears as though that will be changing.
During his Two Rivers City Update yesterday (August 2nd) City Manager Greg Buckley explained that they are going to start airing them elsewhere as well.
He revealed that the “Council did provide direction to staff to pursue an agreement with Spectrum cable to make the necessary investment to resume cable TV telecasts of our City Council meetings.”
This is not going to be an overnight change or a cheap one.
“There will be a $28,000 cost,” Buckley explained. “But the Council indicated a desire to move forward with that, and the staff are going to bring forward a plan for an internal loan to finance that over the next couple of years.”
Buckley went on to say, “With the exception of Seehafer Broadcasting, there aren’t a lot of opportunities for people to learn from media about what is happening in the community.”
He also said he believes this change will help keep residents more informed and potentially more engaged.
