
A prominent name in Manitowoc Lutheran High School sports history died over the weekend in New Ulm, Minnesota.
Jim Unke was 64 at the time of his death on Saturday.
Unke passed away from complications of a stroke he suffered on Friday, July 15th.
Jim had served as director of athletics at Martin Luther College for the past 25 years, 10 years before that as the Athletic Director at Lakeside Lutheran High School in Lake Mills.
His 40 years of public gospel ministry also included 4 years as an 8th-grade teacher and athletic director at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in New Ulm and one year as an emergency instructor at East Fork Lutheran High School in Whiteriver, Arizona.
Funeral arrangements are pending for Jim Unke.
