The Manitowoc Police Department has teamed up with the Manitowoc Public Library for an event today (August 2nd).
The event is known as National Night Out, and as SGT Paul Krock explains, it gives the city police officers the opportunity to interact with the community in a fun and meaningful way.
“We’ve got a bunch of different events for kids,” he said. “There’s going to be a police car there, fire trucks, ambulance. We are also going to have a K9 demonstration, so it should be a great event.”
Susie Menk, the Youth Services Librarian at the Library said while on the WCUB Breakfast Club that there will be several agencies in the meeting room in the children’s department.
They will have tables of information regarding keeping children safe, and about what services they offer.
One of those services is the creation of an ID card for a parent’s child.
“That’s a way for parents to get their kids fingerprinted in case, and hopefully not, a child would go missing,” she explained. “It’s an ID card that the parents would then keep that would be able to be used to track down a child if they went missing.”
The event will be held at the library, located at 707 Quay Street in Downtown Manitowoc at 6:00 p.m.
