Bond has been set at $1 million for the man accused in Saturday’s fatal stabbing incident on the Apple River.
42-year-old Nicolae Miu made his initial appearance in St. Croix County Court Monday.
Miu is charged with first-degree intentional homicide in the death of 17-year-old Isaac Schuman of Stillwater, Minnesota.
Four other people were injured and two remain in the hospital in stable condition.
Miu told investigators the group floating down the river with Schuman began yelling at him and surrounded him in the water.
He says he acted in self-defense.
