A Manitowoc man is facing charges after he allegedly broke into a home by using a hatchet.
Officers with the Manitowoc Police Department were called to a residence in the 2100 block of Richmond Avenue on July 26th to investigate the burglary report.
The 32-year-old suspect used the hatchet to break a window in the door and took some jewelry and $300 in cash.
Two days later, a tipster informed the Police Department that he overheard the suspect bragging about stealing the jewelry and selling it at Rummeles Jewelers.
The jewelry was returned to the victim, who told the officers that the suspect was his nephew.
During his arrest, the suspect told police that he knew his uncle was going to be out of town and said he acted on his own.
He has been charged with Burglary and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
