Dane County public health officials begin offering the monkeypox vaccine today (August 1st).
Public Health Madison and Dane County started setting appointments last Thursday and the first week of appointments was filled the next day.
More appointments will be set for the week of August 8th later.
Doctors say the threat of getting monkeypox is still low.
There are just 13 cases in this state.
The virus spreads mainly through intimate contact and symptoms may not appear for the first 14-to-21 days.
It’s a two-dose series and Wisconsin has received an allocation of almost 1,500 doses.
