His 18 touchdown receptions in his final season might be the ticket to the Hall of Fame for former Packers tight end Sterling Sharpe.
An expanded process of choosing new members could open the door for Sharpe, former Packers coach Mike Holmgren, and 1940s legend Cecil Isbell.
Sharpe’s career was shortened by a bad neck injury. He set several receiving records in the early 90s.
Holmgren had a record of 75-and-37 with the Packers, including a win in Super Bowl 36.
He won a total of 161 games as a head coach.
Isbell appeared in four Pro Bowls as a tailback, defensive back, and halfback. Sharpe, Holmgren, and Isbell are on a list of 12 “senior” candidates for the Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.
