The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater athletics department says basketball standout Derek Gray has died unexpectedly.
The tweet Tuesday night said Gray passed away “playing the game he loved.”
The Madison La Follette High School graduate was an All-Region and first-team All-Conference performer for the Warhawks last season, averaging almost 18 points a game.
The tweet didn’t say how he died Sunday.
