A man from Howard is facing charges after he allegedly shot a woman in the head.
36-year-old Joseph Vandertie is charged with Attempted 1st-Degree Intentional Homicide with Use of a Dangerous Weapon, 1st-Degree Reckless Injury with Use of a Dangerous Weapon, Battery, and Disorderly Conduct.
The criminal complaint states that a couple had come to his home after his wife told them Vandertie was hitting her.
The woman noted that Vandertie appeared to be high on “something worse than weed” and was acting erratic.
When he started walking to the bedroom, the woman followed to make sure he was going to lie down.
When she turned a corner, she was shot in the head.
The woman survived, but Vandertie also reportedly chased her husband with a machete.
His bail was set at $100,000.
