In American Legion Baseball, Manitowoc Post 88 edged Bay Port 2-1 in the opening round of the Regional Tournament in Marinette yesterday (July 20th).
Manager Kevin Stangel tells Seehafer News it all came down to a 2-run homer by Brandon Stephany in the bottom of the 6th, to wipe out a 1-0 deficit.
And, a complete game effort from winning pitcher Jacob Gallagher, who scattered 5 hits and a walk to go along with 9 strikeouts.
The Legion defense also played errorless ball behind Gallagher.
Next up is a game late this afternoon at 5:00 p.m. against the winner of Marinette and the Green Bay Hornets.
Manitowoc will take a 20-4 record into the action.
