Milwaukee could get the Republican National Committee’s stamp of approval to host the 2024 convention when it meets next month.
Multiple media reports say the party’s site selection panel picked Milwaukee Friday.
The national committee’s summer meeting is on the calendar for August 2nd through the 5th in Chicago.
There has been political pushback against the idea, but Mayor Cavalier Johnson says he wants the economic benefits, the visitors, and the world’s attention to be on his city.
Nashville was the other finalist but its bid stalled earlier this month.
