If you travel on Calumet Avenue in Manitowoc, you may have found yourself wondering what is happening with the building that is the former home of the Manitowoc Area Visitor and Convention Bureau.
The building has been empty for quite some time since the City of Manitowoc cut ties with the Bureau.
We asked Mayor Justin Nickels what is going on with the structure.
“It is in the process of being sold,” he explained. “The state deeded it to us so we have their approval to sell it. That was one kind of little step and hurdle. The next is now the people who are buying it are finalizing a tenant.”

While he is not aware of exactly who will be moving into the building, he did say, “We know that the person who buys it is into restaurants and strip mall type things like you see with the Qdoba one just down the street.”
The MAVCB is still in operation.
They are currently located at 3733 Dewey Street just up the road from their old location.
