The Manitowoc American Legion baseball team played nearly flawless baseball last night as they shut out Wrightstown 12-0 in a shortened 5-inning game.
Post 88 opened up the scoring in the second inning when Roncalli’s Reece Stangel doubled and then scored on a single from Manitowoc Lincoln Senior Ben Walsh.
Manitowoc would then score 8 runs in the third inning highlighted by a 2-run home run by Walsh.
He would also end the scoring in the 4th inning by hitting a 3-run homer.
Walsh ended up going a perfect 3-3 at the plate while driving in 6 RBI, while Stangel hit two doubles in three at-bats bringing two runs across the plate.
Brock Peterson was nearly perfect on the mound, going all 5 innings while allowing only 1 hit and striking out 4.
Post 88 will take today off before starting the Plover Tournament on Friday (July 15th).
Their first game is at 10:00 a.m. against Sheboygan.
