All members of the Manitowoc Public School District Board of Education will be issued key fobs to all district buildings.
The board voted on that proposal yesterday during their meeting, and the measure passed on a 5-2 vote.
Before the Board Members would receive their key fobs, they would have to undergo background checks, and a policy needs to be created to address what would happen if anyone, board member or staff, were to lose their key fob.
Some people were happy about the change, noting that this could help curb the student behavior issue, while others say the mere presence of board members in the schools would make the students feel uncomfortable.
We have reached out to Board President Stacey Soeldner for further comment.
