The Manitowoc American Legion baseball team had to come from behind on the road to force extra innings and hold on to beat the Fond du Lac squad 5-4.
The home team held a 3-1 lead entering the 7th inning, but a two-run home run by Hilbert’s Ridge Guyette sent the game to extra innings.
After a scoreless 8th, Guyette again came up big for his team, driving in Brock Peterson with a single, and scoring on a Nathan Stephany hit.
Manitowoc Lutheran Senior August Hecker pitched six innings in relief and held Fond du Lac to one run in the bottom of the 9th to secure the win.
Guyette went 3 for 3 on the day and drove in four total runs, while Roncalli’s Reece Stangel went 2-4 at the plate.
Hecker only alone one hit on the day, as did starter Brandon Stephany.
Both teams did commit four errors, however.
Post 88 improves to 14-4 on the season with the win and will close out their home schedule tonight with a game against Wrightstown.
