The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office reports the operator of the powerboat involved in a hit-and-run crash Saturday has been located.
That person’s name hasn’t been released and authorities haven’t said if they have been taken into custody.
The powerboat they were driving slammed into a two-level commercial pleasure cruise paddleboat at about 10:00 p.m.
There were 43 passengers on the paddleboat. One person was hospitalized and six others were treated at the scene on the Fox River.
The sheriff’s office says it used surveillance video to identify the operator of the powerboat.
Investigators also want to speak with at least four passengers who were on that boat.
