People living nearby say they heard a loud boom Sunday just after 3:00 p.m in Glendale.
A home had exploded.
Emergency responders say the only occupant – a man in his 50s – was taken to a local burn center with serious injuries.
He is expected to survive.
North Shore Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Dan Tyk says the occupant said he had lit a cigarette just before the explosion.
The victim’s name hasn’t been released.
The house is said to be a total loss.
