
The Manitowoc County Mariners football team has improved to 6-2 on the season with their win over the weekend in Winneconne.
The Mariners bested the Fox River Raiders 36-12 on what Coach Marcos Alfaro called a “beautiful sunny afternoon.”
QB Marcos Alfaro II went 17-23 on the day, passing for 200 yards and 2 touchdowns, while also rushing for a score.
His main target for the day was Wide Receiver Austin Isley. He caught 10 passes for 104 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
On the ground, Adrian Abeyta earned 140 yards on just 12 carries and scored twice, including one on a 42-yard scamper.
Defensively, D-End Chandler Watson picked up 7 tackles and two sacks, while Dustin Vlies tallies 7 tackles of his own, plus three assists, and an interception.
Safety Brysen Roulette also picked off the Raiders QB, giving him one in each of the last three games.
The Mariners will be taking this weekend off before resuming action at Rubick Field on Saturday, July 23rd.
