A 9th inning collapse led to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers losing for the second game in a row against the South Bend Cubs last night 8-6.
The Rattlers held a 6-4 lead heading into the 9th inning when Taylor Floyd came on in an attempt to earn a save.
He gave up two hits and walked two to load the bases with two outs.
Then, Cubs outfielder Owen Caissie stepped into the box.
He pelted the 1-1 pitch over the right-field wall for the walk-off grand slam.
Rattler pitchers struggled all day, giving up a total of 11 hits, five of which came off of Antoine Kelly in the first three innings, who also gave up three runs.
Despite his rough outing, Kelly did get some good news yesterday. He was selected to play in the 2022 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game on July 16th.
The Rattlers will look to bounce back and even up their series in South Bend Indiana.
Russel Smith will be taking on DJ Herz in a 6:05 p.m. start at Four Winds Field.
